Sao Paulo has a rich history and colonial heritage evident in its architecture. The eclectic architecture of the city features a variety of styles from colonial, brutalist to art nouveau and contemporary. Of particular highlight are Sao Bento Monastery, Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo, Pinoteca de Estado, Sala Saou Paulo and much more!

For a Brazilian art treatment visit the Museu de Arte de Sao Paulo. It is Brazil's first modern art museum that exhibits 8000 artpieces of European and national art.

During your visit to Sao Paulo in particular don't miss out these things to do:

•  Enjoy some live Samba music playing in Sao Paulo's bars every Saturday.
 • Shop at Saturday and Sunday street market at Liberdade district. It is the largest Japantown outside Japan in the world! The weekly market offers traditional Japanese food and various accessories, handicrafts.
 • Walk or bicycle through Parque Ibirapuera or Villa Lobos Park.

Note that most of Sau Paulo's attractions are located far from each other and generally the city is very big. So you better arrange your visits using metro to save time and money!

It's best to plan your visit to Sao Paulo in from March to May or from October to November. The temperature then is comfortable and the city is bustling with events. As Sao Paulo is located in Southern Hemisphere the summer there is from December to February and the winter from June to August. However, the weather in the city is pleasant all year long. If you wish to visit at festivals visit in summer. If you wish to visit at a cheaper and less crowded time come in winter.
