We were really looking forward to having a beer and a bite here on our way out of Munich. It started to rain as we arrived and they ushered us inside, only to then be told that we could not be inside. This went back and forth for about 5 minutes until we we're finally sat. We then waited to place an order for a beer for about 10 minutes. By the time we found someone to take our order it was too late to grab any food. Beer was decent, nothing special. We probably would have enjoyed the place more if we could have sat outside.

This is the worst experience I had so far in a restaurant. The waiter was very rude, impolite and had an air of superiority. To add some context: according to the English menu says that "If you need a printed receipt, please tell the waiter in advance!". After we ordered the food and drinks, I told the waiter that I want a printed receipt. I don't know why, but he felt instantly very, very insulted for saying that. He started being rude and superior, even quarrelling with me. The waiter was shocked that I requested the receipt before even paying, even though I showed him the line from the menu (the same line I posted above). In addition to that, he asked me where I am from (like this was somehow relevant in this discussion) and then he left with big air of superiority. Totally uncool (this is a very soft term to describe this situation), but this doesn't end here. The lemonades we ordered were totally rubbish. I don't believe they squeezed a single lemon in that drink. It tasted like sweet water. The food was decent, a bit over priced and my food arrived on a plate which had a small crack. At the end, when he came with the bill, he stood near our table until we paid (he was basically staring at us while we gathering the money). He even made a small remark, saying that the tip is not included. I never felt so poorly treated. The only reason I didn't leave was because I was very hungry and this was the closest restaurant from my place. I also browsed other reviews and it seems that the staff mistreats tourists. I simply don't get it why they do this. I hope that other people, especially tourists will see this review and avoid this restaurant. Also, the manager of this restaurant should take some measures to improve customer service. In my opinion, the waiter behaviour should not be tolerated again by anyone.

I love this place. Such a great experience to be in a venue like this one that exists for hundreds of years. Lovely Augustiner beer, just pay downstairs at the till, grub a clay beer stein and give it to the barman to fill it from a barrel. The smallest size is 0.5 litre and the beer is strong. There are various food outlets upstairs so you can pick up lots of interesting food items like sausages, ribs, salads, pickles, crisps etc. to have with your beer. You can also bring your own food. Highly recommended. Cash only so come prepared.

Big city prices. There's a part where you can do self-serve or wait for a server. It took forever for a server to come so I did self-serve. It was ok. The people behind the counter somewhat made fun of the foreigners. The beer garden is really beautiful though and has a nice play area for somewhat older kids (ages 4 upwards).

By far the worst place I’ve eaten at in my month long trip in Europe. It is not advertised that their full meals are not served until 11am. Fine, I accept and understand that. I went with the two breakfast sausages instead. The sausages come in a big pot of water, which housed a dead bug inside. I ventured on eating since I was famished before a long bus ride. Unfortunately, swarms of flies and a bee would constantly antagonize me during the meal. I finally asked if I could sit inside, seeing as when I passed by it was empty. The waiter first said that it was fine as long as I paid there. Okay... Later on as I was trying to, he said never mind, it was closed. He watched as the swarms of flies surrounded my sausages and then walked away. I have never in my life felt so disgusted after a meal.

Great beer, great food and - what is even more important - excellent service! Absolutely worth it, the place was packed when we came in and all our beers and food was served extremely quickly. Important thing: after 5 PM beer is served only in 1 liter glass... So be warned ;)

This place is great because the beer is really good and it's fun to sit in the garden and drink/eat. The food is awesome. Prices are a bit high but I'm a Jew when it comes to food and drink prices because I believe stuff like that should be fundamentally low priced. Either way if you have any sort of job you will be fine with these prices. I feel very relaxed here however I am also very bias to this beer garden because it was the first I went to when I arrived in Germany, fell in love with it, and never felt the need to go anywhere different. Even though it's in the middle of the city, it feels like it's tucked away. There's also a substantial playground for the young'ins!

Great outdoor beer garden, limited selection of beers on tap, all very good. Typical German food fare, good, but not particularly creative. However, the service is glacial slow. It must have taken our waiter 30+ minutes to take our table of 10 beer orders, and another 30 minutes to actually bring them to the table. Yes, they were busy, but common! Similar story with the food order: half the people managed to place their orders and got food delivered to the table before the other half had their orders taken. Way below average service. Otherwise, the place is nice, and very popular with the locals.

I felt historic drinking beer here. The patio probably sits 1000 if it ever nears capacity, I was truly blown away by the size of the place. On a nice summer day it's hard to imagine a better life than lounging here buying traditional beer by the liter with your mates.

One of the largest beer gardens in Munich. Great atmosphere, friendly staff and decently priced food. I'm walking distance from hauptbahnhof and hackerbrücke. Definitely recommended for a visit If you have been there yet. Also great om to just grab a drink with friends.
