Hop on, Hop off buses are the best way to get a feeling for a city no matter where in the world you are. However, in this instance most of the time it was raining but we enjoyed the city tour and the commentary. The bus was good but finding the office when you book on line in Australia was a bit of a nightmare. We had a hop on, hop off stop outside our hotel but we had to walk over 2 kilometres to convert our voucher to a ticket like in Amsterdam. Not so easy when very few locals speak English and we don't speak Hungarian. Covered the city well and we did the different coloured runs. Found the guide at our bus stop very helpful a student earning extra money. An interesting and very old city.

Good means to be around the city. Connection times can be too wide spread, a day ticket might not be enough to cover all sites.

A great way to get around Budapest. Love having the audio tour guide. Stops were convenient to major sights. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We took the two day deluxe and couldnt do it all! Make sure you pick up the most recent schedule as they are reprinted monthly with updates on departure times. The walking and night tours are only once a day, so you have to really organize where you are and allow time to get to departure spot. Only recommendation would be to add more departures to walking tours.

Generally the tour itself was fine. However, there were a number of different bus operators offering hop on / hop off tours within the city. So, it was sometimes difficult finding your particular company at the stop - and sometimes difficult to find the stop. Also, I didn't find the Big Bus company operated the loop at the same frequency as some of the other operators.

Don't miss this tour and Thomas at the Castle in Buda. All important stops are covered by the 2 lines. Easy access and identification of buses. Commentary was excellent. Very good value for an introduction to the city!

I am rating this as three stars because I find the bus frequency compared to other bus seems to be less frequent. Additionally the bus stops do not have the hop on hop off schedule and maps.
