This shore tour is an absolute must for everyone cruising into St Petersburg. It is very well organised and our guide Alex was amazing, he gave us an insight into life as it is today as well as the history of Russia and kept us entertained all day. We had 16 in our group which made the whole experience more comfortable, personal and enjoyable. The bus was comfortable and we all felt very safe travelling through the city. The museums, cathedrals palaces and gardens were spectacular, St Petersburg was definitely the highlight of our Baltic cruise.

The tour guide was excellent but two issues stood out that caused the three star rating - 1. There were too many people on the bus, more than the 16 stated as a max, causing some to sit in the far back without windows. If you can't see out it greatly diminishes the joy of touring! Tour promised early admission to the Hermitage but due to so many cruise ships being in port we visited in mid afternoon and the museum was totally packed. It was not the experience we were promised or looking forward to. According to the tour, it was out of our control. Deliver what your promise.

We booked through Viator for a 2 day tour of St Petersburg with Alla Tours. Viator were very prompt and efficient. We were concerned because our ship docked in half an hour late and then we were held up at immigration for another half an hour but the Alla tour guide was waiting for us outside and she assured us there was nothing to worry about. The group was small with only 16 people. They adjusted the tour schedule so that we could see all the major buildings and they obtained early passes so we beat the crush of other tourists. We visited the State Hermitage, St Peter and Paul, Spilled Blood, Upsupov Palace, Peterhof Gardens, Catherines Palace, and St Isaacs, had a canal tour and went on the subway. Lunch on the first day was in a beautiful restaurant and the food was excellent. The second day we ate a packed much on the bus as we had a long way to travel to The Gardens. This lunch was not so great. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and accomodating. A few of the group wanted to shop for souvenirs so she asked the bus driver to stop and we had sufficient time to look around. She even came in and helped us. At the end of the tour we received an informative booklet of St Petersburg which included the places we had visited. This was a lovely touch to end the tour. I would thoughougly would recommend doing St Petersburg with Alla Tours

After having booked on Viator previously, I knew they were the ones I wanted to use on our 2 days in St. Petersburg. It was a difficult decision which one to pick since they had so many tours to choose from, all with glowing reviews. We chose the 2 day grand shore excursion tour and were not disappointed. It took us almost an hour to get through passport control so I was worried that we missed our starting time. I called the number provided and was assured they would be waiting for us. We had a wonderful knowledgeable guide named Alexandra with a singsong voice. She was with us every step of the way for the 2 days, answering any and all questions. It was an exhausting whirlwind 2 days covering all the important sites I've been wanting to see. We had all sorts of people who moved at different paces and that didn't seem to be a problem for Alexandra's guiding skills. There were only 24 of us and we drove around on a comfortable bus driven by a competent driver. I would highly recommend this tour and using Viator.

Guide Julia was excellent -- friendly, kept us well-organized and extremely knowledgeable. Answered all questions affably, including the dumb ones. Visits to Hermitage and Catherine's all we had hoped for and more. Marvelous. Closest thing to an itinerary quibble would be that park stop on way back into city could have been skipped or shortened. Box lunch was awful, restaurant lunch ordinary. But all in all, highly recommended left us wondering if could have been as impressive with any other guide.

From my experience in St. Petersburg I can thoroughly recommend Alana Tours. The Tour Guide was a young lady called Paulina who was extremely knowledgeable about the city and its history. She spoke very good English with a slight accent and was very clear when listening to her comments on all the places visited. The mini-bus was modern and comfortable and having a group of only nine people made it much easier to get around and see things so I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.

Our tour was amazing! We saw so many incredible sights and learned so much about the city's rich history. Both our guide, Veronica, and our driver, knew the ins and outs of St. Petersburg and its attractions which saved us time in lines and in traffic. Highly recommend.

Two jam packed and exhilarating days in St. Petersburg. Our guide, Alex was exceptional. No topic from history, culture, architecture or Russians' current lives seemed to stump him. He was articulate and had a great sense of humor. Two very well organized days allowed us to see all key sites.
