Julio Prestes Cultural Center is located in the Sorocabana Railway Station of Sao Paulo. The Railway Station building is a part of city's historical heritage.

Julio Prestes, inaugurated in 1999, is a cultural center. The cultural center houses the Sala Sao Paulo, which is a concert hall with a capacity of 1498 seats. The Sao Paulo State Symphonic Orchestra performs here. It is the best place to enjoy orchestra music and symphonic presentations in Sao Paulo. Sala is compared to Symphony Hall of Boston, Musikverein of Vienna etc.

Additionally, Sala Sao Paulo suggests guided educational tours through the admiring building. They represent the architectural, historical and technological features of the building. The tours are open to everyone. English and Spanish tours are also available upon prior request (5 days in advance). Admission ticket costs ~ $ 1,5. Half price for students and elderly people (over 60)!

    Wonderful concert hall with the best of classical music in the city but located in one of the worse degraded areas I have ever seen. You must go directly into the parking area and leave immediately never setting your foot on the nearby streets filled to the brim with junkies, dirt and drug traffickers. Better still, take an Uber for your deplacements

    A modern place to listen to classic music in São Paulo. There are very comfortable sofas in the hall and a cafeteria.

    Maravilhosa sala de concertos. Agora colocaram um esquema de táxis dentro do estabelecimento, assim é menos perigoso sair de lá. A zona é muito feia e perigosa, porém da porta para dentro parece país de primeiro mundo!

    Um dos melhores lugares para escutar música clássica. No site é possível ver a programação e preços de ingressos. Há dias em que se pode assistir os ensaios gratuitamente. Há um café e restaurante dentro (caros). Há estacionamento pago. Na saída dos concertos alguns táxis ficam na porta. Não é aconselhável sair a pé de noite pelos arredores mas é possível chegar de dia por ônibus ou metrô.

    A beautiful place. Excellent for orchestras, but avoid anything that you want to actually see - few rows back and you will have trouble seeing the stage.
