The Montmartre is a popular district of Paris. Some top attractions are located here. The place is renowned as the artistic quarter, boasting unique mood, numerous shopping opportunities and engaging nightlife. The area is close to the downtown and can be reached on foot or by metro.

The Place du Tertre, the Moulin Rouge and the Sacred Heart Basilica are the top attractions. Au Lapin Agile and Moulin de la Galette are some good places to hang out. You will enjoy walking the narrow alleys of the Montmartre and buying souvenirs and paintings. The neighborhood is also famous for performances in its bars.

The Montmartre was a notorious neighborhood in the past where even the policemen were reluctant to come. Artists, who belonged to a low social class, could afford to live only here. Thus, they created works of art at the bars and the Place du Tertre. Feel free to order a portrait of you in the square.

As you wander around, you can come by busts of Saint Denis and Dalida, the unhappy star of the show business of the last century.

Amazing views of the city below. Wonderfully maintained quarter of the city with history everywhere you look. Not to mention the Basilique itself which is astoundingly beautiful. See the artists' markets. Taste fare from the many bistros and restaurants. See Paris' lights from such a wonderful perspective. Go to the museums. Climb the stairs! I ran up these on a winter's morning and ALMOST made it up the whole way before I almost dropped. A serious must see for anyone wanting to see Paris even at a glance.

Beautiful church on top of the mont! It was my first stop when I arrived in Paris! When I arrived at the bottom (entrance), I was advised to be aware of surroundings because there will be two groups of people - one asking to get signature from you to donate your organs, the other one will pull your arm and put their handmade bracelet and ask for money - and yes they were true haha. So just to be careful when you are going up the stairs to the church ;) Once you reach the top, check the inside of beautiful church then you will definitely enjoy the walk around the church!

Being in Mont Martre is a great experience in itself.. One can feel the calmness even if one is not very religious. Views of Paris from here are quite splendid

Our absolute favorite place in Paris. With all the lovely shops, restaurants and of course the Basilica. The wait staff in this part of Paris actually seem to like Americans and are friendly unlike some other parts of Paris!

Greatest place in Paris. Loved the ambiance and the food, the people were also more polite than those in the centre of the city. There actually were some who spoke English. Excellent view from the Sacre Coeur church

Loved every minute! Visited last September. Enjoyed the Dali Museum and several excellent restaurants. Unexpected surprise was great jazz duo at restaurant near the Basilica and violinist and cellist playing on the steps of Place du Tertre. Plan to return at next opportunity!

This place makes you feel like you are in heaven. Most beautiful and breathtaking sceneries the moment you climb to the top with mild breeze making you forget the fatigue. The place is so unreal it feels as if it s too good to be true. The place where all artists do their art is mesmerizing. Got a portrait of me and my wife, do get one when your there. My words probably do only 10% justice to what the place actually is.

Travel to the Abbesses metro station on line 12 and there's a lift to the station entrance, don't attempt to take the stairs unless you're super fit! Next walk up the Rue des Matre to the funicular railway, a five minute stroll uphill, at the bottom of the final ascent. When you get to the top, the views are well worth it!
