Musee de l'Orangerie

Jardin des Tuileries - Cote Seine, Paris

(12 894)

The small Musee de l'Orangerie has a great art display. You can find it in the Jardin des Tuileries. The museum’s collection encompasses specially selected works of art by renowned painters and is within walking distance to numerous landmarks of Paris.

You can see famous a couple of paintings of the Water-lilies series, by Claude Monet, in an oval room. Originally named the Nympheas, these works of art are the highlight of the museum and the painter’s crowning work. In the Musee de l’Orangerie, you can also see a series of works by Renoir, Cezanne and Rousseau.

The Wedding, The Red Rock and Young Girls at the Piano are other highlights of the Musee de l'Orangerie. Take a look at the art pieces by Utrillo, Modigliani and Picasso, too.

The building housing the museum was part of the Tuileries Palace. The palace was the fourth wing of the Louvre, but it was burnt in 1871 as a symbol of the royalty by the members of the Paris Commune.

After you have seen the most well-known and famous places in Paris it is worth to come here too. Much smaller than the Louvre and the d'Orsay but the two oval rooms with Monet's water lilies are a unique experience.

If you're in the area visiting the Louvre ,you might as well walk across the Tuileries and take a side venture to de l'Orangerie too! This is a lovely museum full beautiful paintings and natural light. The circular rooms with paintings at 360 experience are truly unique. From Monet to Renoir, Cézanne, and more this museum is a joyful experience. A must see for art lovers!

What a museum is all I got to say. Went today and saw a few works. From seeing Monet and the Water Lilies and some of Renoir’s work and of course the famous Picasso. Definitely a must Museum.

Cute And small gallery. Recommend to visit the water lilies of Renoir. They also had a Dada exhibit during my visit.

So this museum was small but obviously a big attraction are Monet’s water Lillie’s which take up two large rooms. The lower level has temporary exhibits and more painters. I would say it’s good to stop by, especially if you’re a tourist and visiting the Eiffel Tower or the Ferris wheel right nearby, but I wouldn’t plan a whole day around it by any means.
