Description

The small Musee de l'Orangerie has a great art display. You can find it in the Jardin des Tuileries. The museum’s collection encompasses specially selected works of art by renowned painters and is within walking distance to numerous landmarks of Paris.

You can see famous a couple of paintings of the Water-lilies series, by Claude Monet, in an oval room. Originally named the Nympheas, these works of art are the highlight of the museum and the painter’s crowning work. In the Musee de l’Orangerie, you can also see a series of works by Renoir, Cezanne and Rousseau.

The Wedding, The Red Rock and Young Girls at the Piano are other highlights of the Musee de l'Orangerie. Take a look at the art pieces by Utrillo, Modigliani and Picasso, too.

The building housing the museum was part of the Tuileries Palace. The palace was the fourth wing of the Louvre, but it was burnt in 1871 as a symbol of the royalty by the members of the Paris Commune.
