Paris Metro

Paris Metropolitan Area

Travelling by Paris Metro is a fast and comfortable way to get almost everywhere you want in Paris because it connects popular destinations to central Paris such as Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), Disneyland Paris, Orly Airport, Eiffel Tower etc. It is mostly underground and 214 kilometres (133 mi) long, has unique architecture, and is the second busiest subway system in Europe and the tenth-busiest in the world. There are 16 lines, and the first line opened without ceremony on 19 July 1900. Paris Metro has 303 stations, and the stations have multiple entrances/exits, e.g. the world's largest underground station, Chatelet Les Halles, has ten of them. If you are confused and don't know how to get to a station, street maps will help you. The ITDP ranked the Metro as the best public transport system in the world in 2016. It is considered that every citizen of Paris has an easy access to rapid transportation.
