The Englischer Garten (German: [ˈʔɛŋlɪʃɐ ˈɡaʁtn̩], English Garden) is a large public park in the centre of Munich, Bavaria, stretching from the city centre to the northeastern city limits. It was created in 1789 by Sir Benjamin Thompson (1753–1814), later Count Rumford (Reichsgraf von Rumford), for Prince Charles Theodore, Elector of Bavaria. Thompson's successors, Reinhard von Werneck (1757–1842) and Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell (1750–1823), advisers on the project from its beginning, both extended and improved the park. With an area of 3.7 km2 (1.4 sq mi) (370 ha or 910 acres), the Englischer Garten is one of world's largest urban public parks. The name refers to its English garden form of informal landscape, a style popular in England from the mid-18th century to the early 19th century and particularly associated with Capability Brown.

The English Garden in Munich is a massive, and beautiful park in the city. During the summer, especially on the weekends, there are thousands of people enjoying, relaxing and partying in the park. The Chinese Tower and the Monopteros (Greek style temple structure atop a hillock) are the most attractive structures in the English garden. The small rivulet flowing through the park makes the park a nature lovers delight. Many skilled surfers enjoy surfing in this river, due to turbulent waves created artificially. If you are in Munich, it is a must visit !

Excellent place with a nice river running through it. Carry your swimming trunks with you if visiting in summer, very nice loop around the park on the river. Also it's fun to watch surfers on the rapids near the entrance to the park.

A beautiful park in the centre of town. Walk one end and come out to a different part of Munich. A stroll in the English Garden on a Winter's sunny day is a wonderful experience.

There’s plenty of space for your fat tourist ass but don’t get comfortable cause there’s people who exploit you. They’ll steal your humanity by playing pleasant music while you just sit there and don’t pay a dime but that’s ok because Trump.
