Kaiserburg Nurnberg (Nuremberg Castle)

Burg 13, Nuremberg

4.5

Nuremberg Castle is a complex of Medieval Royal buildings, situated in the historical center of Nuremberg. The complex, the old city walls and the surroundings are considered to be Europe’s most amazing medieval fortifications. The caste is a standing reminder of the city’s imperial past.
The castle was constructed in 11th century.
The construction of the complex consists of 3 main parts; the Imperial castle the former Burgraves' castle and the buildings erected by the Imperial City at the eastern site.
There are several parts, which are to be iconic and have a great importance for Nuremberg. The Sinwell Tower, built in the 2nd half of the 13th century, is attributive. The Deep Well is another important construction, which is as old as the castle itself.

Awesome castle complex on the top of the highest hill and m Nuremberg. Bombed pretty badly in WWII, but reconstructed excellently. Lots of portions unhurt by time. 7 euro for the full tour (castle, tower, deep well demonstration. All are worth it. The deep well is especially cool, but I recommend getting to the front of the line so you can actually see down the well. The castle is like a museum, with a whole bunch of medieval artifacts and treasures, mostly related to killing people. The tower gives a great 360 view of the whole town. Tough climb, but worth it.

Every time I come here, I feel the burg really as an Imperial place: strong, elegant and inside you always find interesting exibitions. The panorama from the terrace is wonderful: many decks and towers... and free entrance in the gardens and courtyards of the Burg. Even if it has been partially reconstructed, the fortress is showing his strength. Come once and you'll come back again...

Such an awesome castle. The hill to it is pretty steep if you're coming from the city center. Recommend either having a tour, or an interpreter. They will make you pay to go in the tower or the museum. A lot of the castle is free however. Great place for sunset photos! The old blacksmith shop is a restaurant, however, the food is not the best.

Stunning castle, the old city is wonderful to walk around. If there is a market going the atmosphere is amazing. The castle itself has plenty to see and do, with tickets to go down the well about 42 meters down, or climb the tower and get an extraordinary view of Nuremberg. The tour of the museum is stunning, an audio guide is a must and you can spend many hours there learning the history. The final part of the tour has some medieval weapons and Armour.

Unfortunately when we visited there was a lot of repair work being carried out and there were vehicles and heavy machinery in the courtyard. It made me wonder why there was no disabled parking space up there. It is a very steep walk up to the courtyard. It would probably be a lovely ace to see under different circumstances.

The beauty of this landmark can only be comparable with its historical importance and the architectural impact. The views are amazing and it is a miracle it survived all conflicts for more than half a millennium. It dominates all city is well preserved and it seems that the more you are in there the more you discover. Walking and breathing the castle air has a bit of emotional it is a true European experience and for me the best way to finish a Nuremburg tour. Gardens are a marvel and in sunny days it is amazing. Unforgettable.

It was a beautiful place. The guide was very informative. The only issue we had was the rudeness of the girl at the ticket counter. We were looking for information from her and she snapped at my husband and proceeded to tell us no tours were available for several hours. We then went to another ticket window after deciding if we should stay, only to find out there were tickets available for a sooner tour. The girl we bought our tickets from was so sweet and friendly. We appreciated her.

It's a beautiful castle which is mainly divided into four parts : gardens, tower, deep well and the exhibition. Reasonably priced and kids under 12 years are free of cost. It will take 3-4 hrs if you thoroughly see the whole castle and cover all the four parts. It's clean and peaceful and staff is very friendly to guide you through the details of the castle. It's lot of walk for the small kids so carry their water bottles or munches which they can sit up in the tower and enjoy the view while eating.

MUST GO, & all tourists do. Must go to be high above the city and the Christmas Market away from the maddening crowd (relatively). Don't get caught her on New Years. It is a mob scene. Nice night lighting and a beautiful Christmas Tree.

Interesting true castle-it was constructed for practicality, not to fulfill a fairy tale version of history. The museum was informative and it was fun going to the top of the tower to see the city better. The well was also a neat demonstration and the story of how the well was "forgotten" until 2012, when two divers cleaned it up was interesting. One of the artifacts they found is on display in the well room.

По территории замка можно гулять бесплатно. Подъем на башню+осмотр колодца (а там, как оказалось, есть на что посмотреть) стоят 3,50€ с человека.

Берите билет включающий подъем на башню и экскурсию к колодцу. Это того стоит.

Not everything is in English. Tickets are 7€ to see everything, and it’s worth a visit to the well (only by guide, and only in German). Don’t forget to climb the tower for panoramic views of the city.
