Kossuth Lajos ter 1-3., Budapest

The Hungarian Parliament Building also known as the Parliament of Budapest is the seat of the National Assembly of Hungary, a notable landmark of Hungary and a popular tourist destination of Budapest. It lies in Lajos Kossuth Square, on the bank of the Danube. It is currently the largest building of the country and the tallest building in Budapest. The Parliament was completed in 1904. The Parliament Building is in the Gothic Revival style; it has a symmetrical façade and a central dome, which is Renaissance Revival architecture.
From inside the parliament is symmetrical and thus has two absolutely identical parliament halls; one is used for the politics, the other one is used for guided tours. Its interior includes 10 courtyards, 13 passenger and freight elevators, 27 gates, 29 staircases and 691 rooms.

This is one of the most beautiful buildings i have ever seen, either inside or outside. The tour guide is worth paying for although it is somehow expensive for non-EU citizens (about 6000HUF) and short as well (less than 40 minutes), but It is the only way to see the inside of the building and can be booked online in advance or on the same day at the visitor center at the underground level of the building. The building is magnificent and rich in details and i think it serve the purpose and the impression that should be given from such kind of buildings. It somehow resembles the Westminster Parliament building in London. The building can be reached by either metro (to the right), tram (back) or boat (front).

The parliament building itself is spectacular - by day and night. We did the tour inside, which we purchased online in advance. The cost per person (if non-European) per ticket was actually quite expensive, and this gets you a tour that is just under an hour, in one of a variety of languages (we did an English tour). Our guide was knowledgeable, and you are allowed to take photos inside except of the crown and guard in the dome room. They leave you in a line and in the main lobby, and you don't get to go through security until your tour time. This wasn't communicated to us in advance, and I was worried we were late for the tour. it also meant the first 10-15 minutes of your tour is your group of 40 going through security and getting their headset. You have to walk many stairs, though there is an elevator for those who need it. Sadly, on our day, the power was out in the whole building, and so we basically toured it in the dark. This means that even though we could take photos, there wasn't many you could take. They gave us a big speech about no power, and no refunds, and no notice was given that we wouldn't have lights during the tour. The whole thing felt a little weird, and I was surprised they wouldn't allow rescheduling due to this circumstance. We learned quite a bit, but without lights it wasn't really as regal and impressive as I expected.

Honestly a must do attraction and please understand this tour books out, you NEED to book in advance, preferably two to three days beforehand! The English tour was booked out when we went so jumped on the Spanish version. That was all good for the hubby but honestly he was a really poor translator for me and never got the information. That being said if you can’t get your preferred language it’s still worth going with a different group to see this building. Beauty is beauty in any language!

The Hungarian Parliament Building is a beautiful and grand building. It is built on the Danube. And as many times as I had various views of the building - from the river or driving on bridges and roads, nothing prepared me for how stunning it is lighted at night. Our Viking Cruise crew riverboat took us for a night trip to see the beautiful views. Absolutely breathtaking!

What a gorgeous building! It is must visit landmark when visiting Budapest. It is the third largest building in the world. The architecture is absolutely admirable. Even more impressive at night when you see from Buda, it shining like gold. The most important thing, it's really peaceful and no hoards of people. You felt safe walking around.

This place was beautiful. We went at nighttime to experience the amazing lights. There was not a lot of people and lots of benches to sit on and enjoy the view. I'd recommend going in nighttime if possible, it's really astonishing.

Remarkable architecture and structure. It is built along the river bank and it commands it good view of the royal palace on the other side of the river on top of the hill. Around it are many main streets with shopping and food and beverages outlet. You can access it by bus or by hop on hop off tourist buses. It is a must see when in Budapest and it is a good location for pictures and selfies.

Stunning architecture!! It’s really big and grand. Especially at night view. You'll be able to get great shots from every angle of the building. Even amateurs like me taking pictures on the iPhone. You will enjoy and be amazed by the greatness of this building.

The coolest building ever. Loved it on the pictures I knew, loved it when I saw it from Buda (at day or night) and when I was standing in front of it. Took the tour, interesting, but especially great to see the inside (big stairs and assembly hall); maybe even more impressive from the outside, though. Sorry to hear/know it's dominated by mid right and far right parties currently...

The most beautiful building in Budapest without a doubt. The statue of this parliament is really grand and the architecture is absolutely stunning. A blend of gothic and roman architecture...this building easily catches the eye. And it looks even more beautiful in the night when lit up in the yellow-gold lights. The entire area of the parliament with the Danube in the front looks mesmerizing. The best views of the entire parliament are from the opposite side of the river on top of the castle and above the church on the top from in between the walls.
