Good day out for the family. Today we went to the Bug Lab exhibit which was great! Super interactive and fun for the kids but could be a bit frightening for younger or more sensitive kids. If you're an Aucklander getting friends of the zoo passes is a great cost effective way to get into the zoo as its unlimited over the course of a year

Zoo is under construction at the moment. But still didn't stop us from having an amazing day out. We went for my sons first birthday , although there was no parking we managed to park around the corner and found a shortcut witch was good. Managed to get to see the bug lab before it finished how cool was that very well done!! A lot of the animals looked bored but good to see they are well looked after. Overall great day out with the family my little man will sleep well tonight!!

Incredible family time. Highly recommended for all ages. Wheelchair friendly too. Heaps of animals to experience - ranging from The Americas, Africa, New Zealand, Australia and many more. Take your own picnic, or buy something there... There's a 'water-hole' for All to enjoy.

Went in here - must have been not long after a storm that had seen a few enclosures close down. Unfortunately there was quite a few and nothing was said upon purchasing tickets or signs outside. I would have liked to have known prior to entry as some of the animals that were not there are ones we wanted to see. We did enjoy our visit but would rather full information about closed enclosures been given so we could have rescheduled our visit

A wonderful place to see so many different animals in the one area that we wouldn't otherwise get to see. And even though they are not in the wild, they are obviously being well looked after and given as close to realistic an environment as possible. Staff are all friendly, helpful obviously passionate about what they do.

Great place to take the family. Close interactions with the animals while maintaining safety. Zoo staff are helpful and the animals love putting on a great show for the kids to enjoy. Only reason for this 4 star rating as opposed to 5 star was that a large number of the exhibits were closed for construction and there are No more lions.

Awesome experience here. Well worth the drive. I like how it felt like there was always something to see in every corner. For an example the Hamilton Zoo space was very big and it felt like a long walk whereas the Auckland Zoo they had all the animals so close to each other it felt like we didn't miss out on anything as all we had to do was walk all the way around to see all their animals which was structured fantastically. This is by far the best zoo I've seen and my babies loved it. Especially all the boat, playgrounds, and statue of animals.

Pleasantly surprised, I have been to zoos all around the world and Auckland Zoo despite not being as big as many of them, still ranks well amongst my experience. It feels less like a Zoo curated with cages, but instead makes you feel as if you are just strolling through the environments native to the animals they house. Very cool.

Some people hate zoos for what they are but all it remains a great place to take kids and have them witness live animals they would never see anywhere. The zoo isn't too expensive and they offer an annual pass if you think you might return multiple times. Its always clean and do put some emphasis on treating the animals respectfully.

The Auckland Zoo was excellent. It was well laid-out, and the keeper talks really added a lot to the experience. The animals looked healthy and happy and listening to the keepers talk about things that they do to check the health of the animals and the breeding programs was very informative. The zoo campus feels like a beautiful park, and is a real oasis so close to the city. We also ate at Darwin's and were very impressed with the quality of food and the reasonable prices. The hot chocolate and coffee were both some of the best I've had in NZ. The burger was only $12 including a side of chips. I would definitely recommend the zoo to anyone visiting Auckland. I would say that the quality was comparable to the San Diego Zoo, just on a smaller scale.
