Faberge Museum

Fontanka River Emb., 21, St. Petersburg

If you already saw most of the historic landmarks in St. Petersburg Faberge Museum must be on that list. Faberge Museum is the luxurious Shuvalov Palace Built in 18th century. The museum now hold the biggest collection of Faberge eggs in the world.
The palace was restored quite recently. A great amount of money was spent to preserve nine Faberge eggs two years before that. Due to great efforts of Viktor Vekselberg this iconic landmark now opens its doors to public again. 4000 amazing exhibits are presented in 12 highly facilitated and lavishly decorated rooms.
Did the thought of the first Faberge egg cross your mind? Yes, you guessed it, the museum has it under its possession. The piece of art from 1885 created by Tsar Alexander III is in this museum. Now skiping this location will be unacceptable.

Just amazing. Beautiful workmanship on display, building lovely too. Smallish place so not too dreary or long for kids

Incredibly well presented museum in a beautiful setting. Also completely suitable for English speakers with all literature and audio in English unlike most other museums and places to visit in Russia! The same experience for an English speaker as it would be for a Russian. Will probably return again as the Eggs are just something special!

This is a Pvt museum of a collection of artwork of the famous Faberge jewelry house. It's housed in Shuvalov palace on the Fontanka river embankment. On display you can see the famed Faberge Easter eggs and exquisite enamel work on cigarette cases ,buckles and dinner ware too.You can pick up replicas from their souvenir store.

Such a wonderful collection it is certainly a highlight not to be missed. Best with a knowledgable guide to get the most from the visit. There is so much more on display than just the wonderful collection of Faberge Eggs which are certainly the draw card. I found the room filled with magnificent Iconography mesmerizing and didn't want to leave.

Having the chance to see on display a high concentration of their famed Faberge eggs when u hardly get to see them outside of Russia.. makes this a very very special museum worth a visit. The rest of the other rooms are average so a quick 1 hr max stop is a great thing before u hop off to the canal cruise with a pier right outside the museum.

Great seeing the eggs! Pick up a free guide available in the eggs room to learn a bit more about them or have a tour guide. Lots of other great paintings and decorative arts to see, as well.

Really cool museum, with Faberge eggs and other whimsical creations. If you're interested in them, it's unmissable because the collection is rich, the palace is beautiful and the information is well presented. The audioguide is really worth it - it's necessary to leave a 1000 rubles deposit, so be prepared.

This place has extremely long wait time in winter around russian holidays so plan ahead or show up earlier. However the faberge collection is rather dissapointing.
