Singapore Zoo

80 Mandai Lake Road, Singapore

4.5

The Singapore Zoo commonly known locally as the Mandai Zoo, occupies 28 hectares on the margins of Upper Seletar Reservoir within Singapore's heavily forested central catchment area. It opened in June 1973.
There are about 315 species of animal in the zoo, of which some 16 percent are considered to be threatened species. The zoo attracts 1.7 million visitors each year.
From the beginning, Singapore Zoo followed the modern trend of displaying animals in naturalistic, 'open' exhibits with hidden barriers, moats, and glass between the animals and visitors. It houses the largest captive colony of orangutans in the world.
The zoo often organizes unique shows for the visitors; "Breakfast with an Orangutan", that allows visitors to meet and interact closely with the orangutans in the zoo,
The "Elephants at Work and Play" show demonstrates how elephants are used as beasts of burden in south-east Asian countries. The admission Fee is $33 for adults and $22 for children.

Superb experience.... Please keep 5-6 hours minimum for this....as it's huge and really worth all the time ...we didn't anticipate it to be so good and had to run and do in 2 hours.... But v couldn't do any shows.... It's better u do it nicely with time in hand. Best Zoo i have seen in the world.

You can have a great time here by seeing wonderful animals are taken care of very well..I am not a big supporter of the zoo concept, however if Zoo’s will remain, they should take Singapore Zoo as the role model, as the animals are free to stay in spaces that are very close to their real habitat.. You can feed giraffes 🦒 with vegetables if you donate a few bucks to the zoo and it’s great fun.. White tiger is also amazing to take a look.. Highly recommended for families to introduce the variety of the animals to their kids..

Easily able to spend a full day here. Plenty of animals and activities, shows through the day. There's a tram that brings you around internally. You can also rent a wagon at the door. Handicap accessible and toilets available throughout the park. Plenty of parking space right outside. This is located right next to River Safari. Plenty of food choices scattered throughout the park, but hard to get seats during peak period. Good place for kids.

Great experience for kids. Shows are good. Avoid elephant show.. Not so great. River safari is good. Avoid the boat ride.. Too much walk after long tiring day and you literally see nothing in that ten min boat ride. Overall great place for kids.

One of the best attractions in Singapore. It is well maintained. Not too too big but they clustered it perfectly. Not too many attractions there but they're all worth to watch. If you have gone to Taman Safari in Indonesia before, its way bigger but still its poorly maintained that it really feels dirty and old. Go bring your kids here. They will absolutely love it. Plus there are River Safari in the same complex so go to both if you have time. They were both wonderful to see.

One of the best zoos I've been to on the world. Lots of animals with big open spaces. Efficient tram to move you around the park quickly. Good food. And perhaps the best children's splash Park I've ever seen... And I go to them all the time with our kid. Must see and do if you are visiting Singapore.

As zoos go, this is a pretty good one. Accessed easily by MRT and bus, and not too expensive by taxi. The enclosures are well looked after, and the animals all appear in good condition and not distressed. No cages helps visitors feel close to the animals. Orangutans can roam through a network of ropes above the walkways, and are not enclosed. There is a decent amount of shade, and many sheltered seating areas with fans. A tram ride saves the legs. Food and drink is widely available, is decent and reasonably priced. Well worth a visit, especially with children, who also have an amusement park on site to enjoy.

Right next to the River Safari and Night Safari! We were able to finish all 3 in one day, thanks to how close together the three parks are! Would highly recommend for young children, especially the different feeding programs that the zoo has available. My kids fed giraffes and goats! The pony ride is also great! Shows are wonderful as well if you go at the right time. The zoo requires lots of walking however, so you may want to think about renting a wagon or carrying your child around if they are young and not used to walking long distances

Singapore Zoo is one of the best zoo's in the world and is highly acclaimed. A visit to the zoo is a good break away from the hustle and bustle of city life and different experience away from the glitz and glamour of Orchard Road. A must visit for a family with kids. Begin the day early as there is a lot of walking around. The zoo itself is beautifully laid out and is amazing experience. The zoo follows a open zoo format where all the animals are without any cages and roam around freely in their carefully created natural habitat yet it's is safe as there are well designed moats around. It is fantastic to connect with nature and watch the lions, tigers, cheetahs, zebras roaming freely. There are animal shows which are not to be missed. Hop on to trams in case you don't feel like walking all the way. The food court allows one to take a break and refresh. The Amazon jungle adventure and boat ride is a good attraction. The giant panda and the Red panda are a must visit. Great place to get some amazing photographs with good camera and tripod. A day well spent at the Singapore Zoo makes the trip most memorable and enjoyable!

Talk about an experience. The Singapore zoo is an open air concept where most animals are not caged. The white tiger is a must - Ansel Diama
