Central Park

59th to 110th Street, New York City

(94 370)

Central Park is an urban park in Manhattan, New York City. Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States and one of the most filmed locations in the world. The park receives approximately 35 million visitors annually. It was established in 1857 on 315 ha land and placed it on the tentative list for UNESCO World Heritage sites. Central Park is one of the most famous sightseeing spots in New York. It is bordered on the north by Central Park North, on the south by Central Park South, on the west by Central Park West, and on the east by Fifth Avenue. The Park’s size and cultural position have served as a model for many urban parks in many touristic cities in the world. The park contains several natural-looking lakes and ponds that have been created artificially, extensive walking tracks, bridle paths, two ice-skating rinks, the Central Park Zoo, the Central Park Conservatory Garden, a wildlife sanctuary, a large area of natural woods, running track, and an outdoor amphitheater, the Delacorte Theater, which hosts the Shakespeare in the Park summer festivals. Indoor attractions include Belvedere Castle with its nature center, the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre, and the historic Carousel. In addition there are several minor grassy areas; some of them are used for informal or team sports and some set aside as quiet areas. There are also a number of enclosed playgrounds for children.

A must to visit in NYC! Walking through the park is just relaxing and you get to enjoy the beautiful nature. Have you camera all charged up to take magnificent photos. In each season, this beauty is just gorgeous. Ducks and geese are always there and flattering to get some food. And yes, there are many turtles.

We visited on New Year's Eve 2017, just after a light snow fell earlier that day. It was crisp and clear and there was an unusual calm over the park. We watched the fireworks at midnight, and raised a glass to the new year. The people were friendly and seemed content with casual strolls through the park late into the evening just after midnight, the marathon runners came through and we're greeted by cheers and applause. What a beautiful park to visit.

Central Park is ALL that. Take a stroll through this very world famous park known for its small lakes, beautiful bridges, a castle, and even a zoo! You can very easily get lost here. My sense of direction was tricked quite easily when I decided to not use Google Maps. I simply got lost in its beauty. Watching joggers, runners, and walkers passing by is very common here, and this beautiful piece of nature is quite large. This piece of wilderness in the middle of a huge city is a welcome sight. There is a hidden gem here which is a zoo. This small zoo features a Snow Leopard, Couple of Grizzly Bears, and my favorite, a trio of California Sea Lions, one of which is a rescue sea lion from my home state of California. There is much to see here at Central Park from Horse- drawn carriages, to the beautiful trees in their Autumn/ fall colors, to small creatures. The sound of birds, honking horns all provide a kind of musical background to it all. Central Park is a very enjoyable place. There is much to see, hear, and do. Probably best enjoyed during the day, to early eve.

Central Park in the winter is simply breathtaking. I spent about an hour or so just waking the park and taking in the beautiful white setting. There are plenty of folks around to share the scenery with including your typical joggers and cyclists to musicians and dog walkers. I can't wait to come back. Perhaps a spring visit is in store.

We visited before Christmas on a Girls Trip. We took a pedicab tour through the park and had a great time. Be sure to negotiate a good price, they are very flexible. Our drivers were very knowledgeable about the park and also hilarious. They pointed out interesting spots that were used for many movies and television shows. We were able to get out and make some photos. If you’ve never been, I would recommend doing a pedicab. It’s a great way to get familiar with the park. It’s such a beautiful place in the middle of the city!

Hours of fun with kids. I always travel with a small football, baseball gloves and a baseball. We also keep a soccer ball in my family's apartment because my son loves sports and there many great places to play. Also cool to fly a drone and, if you don't wanna carry anything, many great playgrounds for them to spend hours of fun. Pretty cool to walk around with your family or wife, I recommend visiting Belvedere castle and taking a canoe ride

Wonderful place to get away from the steel and concrete to enjoy a slight bit of nature. There's always something or someone in central park to make the area lively. If you prefer, you can take a nice walk (with or without a group) or a bike ride through the park. It's one of the great ways to get away from new york without truly leaving NY

One of the biggest city parks in the world I guess. Absolutely huge. Has a zoo, small castle, baseball fields, kids playground and fair, beautiful fountain (Bethesda Fountain), a restaurant and a café, a pond where you can sail remote controlled sailing boats, rowing boat rental, horse & carriage rides and much more. Great place to get away. I love this place, who doesn't?

Huge park with a lot of things to do. You can randomly walk around and see people dancing, participate in different activities. There are a lot of places to eat or just lay down and enjoy the weather. I would recommend to rent a boat to take nice pictures. Also don't forget to take a pictures from the rocks, which are the most popular for scenic view.

The ultimate escape on a sunny day. We rented bikes and my family and I spent the morning riding along the shady roads soaking in a wonderful New York experience. Later we were relaxing on one of the many grass areas and a live jazz band set up nearby and started playing. It was awesome. Central Park is truly one of the jewels of New York City. We felt safe and saw no indication of any crime or problems anywhere. In fact people seemed very pleasant and friendly. There were lots of families with kids laughing and playing it was an amazing experience. Can't wait to visit again.
