When you're away from your home town (Melbourne Australia) you look for two things from a restaurant in NYC: great food and staff to make you very welcome. Basso 56 is a gem. Excellent pasta (trust me, I'm an expert!) and Alfredo was the best host we've met. Altogether our best dining experience in town. Just off Broadway, but a million miles from the hype. Highly recommended

Great fresh food, good portions, great service. I would give it 5 stars but the restaurant itself had very little character or warmth. Could be cozier

Wonderful food. I had the lamb shank and my wife had the spaghetti & meatballs. I wish I could have eaten twice. Plus the artichoke salad with truffle and parm was amazing. Excellent service to match. I'll go again next time I'm in the city.

One of the most incredible meals we've had in our lives! Have traveled Italy for a month and this rivaled the local Italian food. The service was welcoming and friendly and all for a fair price! Have the duck btw..

The food is so delicious. I got the gnocchi and my boyfriend got the chicken park. He said it was the best he's ever had and the gnocchi was also amazing. Their sauce was so stinking good!!!! Great service too, our water never went below half.

Excellent food, great service. Very accommodating staff. The restaurant is very busy, I recommend reservations. Not too far from the theaters. We are going to eat there every time we visit Broadway.

My wife and I love this place. Delicious food with cashew preparation and wonderful service! There is no place we'd rather visit for dinner in NY.

Food was very good. Calamari was maybe the best we have had! Atmosphere was nice and service was very helpful, and attentive.
