Not bad. Went here for an "authentic NY bagel" as suggested by the doorman of our hotel. They were fairly busy when we went (around 10AM). Lots of options, although the staff mostly speak Spanish, and had a hard time answering my questions. The bagel was good, although they put a COMICAL amount of cream cheese on it. I am talking a solid layer more than an inch thick. But, after I scrapped most of it off with a knife, the bagel was good as was the cream cheese (for the record, I got one of their onion bagels). The wait wasn't too bad, but overall, honestly the bagels on the West Coast taste pretty much exactly the same. But that is no fault of theirs :)

My favourite local bagel place. So much selection and all very well made. There's always a line or the door on weekends as the place is very popular. They've recently changed their ordering/payment process to speed things up, but their operation and speed has always been impressive. We like to get bagels from here and walk up to Central Park to enjoy them.

Poor Customer Service and Horrible Experience. I Walk in with a polite nice Good Morning to Cashier whom was very nasty and rude to me. She was looking in my face as if I had personally done something wrong to her. After saying good morning a second time giving her the benefit of doubt; thinking well maybe she didn’t hear me the first time. She replied with the coldest good morning ever, it was almost as though I was forcing her or begging her to say good morning back. In my head all I’m thinking is WOOOOOW!!!! Its important that I state that I am a African American female because I feel that i was treated in this manner due to my Race. Okay I proceeded with my order and waited for my change. After receiving my change from this person whom happened to be a Spanish White female; she then greets the customer behind me whom happened to be a older White male with the warmest Smile and Greeting of GOOD MORNING EVER!!! I was appalled and disgusted! The customer service that I was given at this location was poor and unacceptable and should not be tolerated at any place of business. I will NEVER VISIT this Pick A Bagel at W. 53 Street & 8 Ave again. Now I’ve been to this location a quite a few times before and although they’ve messed up plenty of my orders I’ve came back but this is one incident I WILL NEVER FORGET and WILL NEVER ACCEPT!!!

Solid food and nice staff. I got a sesame bagel with regular cream cheese. I forgot to ask for my bagel toasted (silly, I know) and it was still very good! I would go back. My friends said the scallion cream cheese was great. Coffee with cream was great too

Great bagel and cream cheese. Efficient crew. Lots and I mean LOTS OF choices. A primer:You start in a line and you pay. Then you walk to the waiting area. At the waiting are they will make your coffee and other drinks. If you forgot a drink... You can buy one now. Enjoy!

Nothing wrong with this place -- just good old fashioned New York bagels at a reasonable price. No tricks or gimmicks. We came at peak time on a Sunday afternoon with a line out the door and we had our food thirty minutes after we started waiting. Not bad considering. The sandwiches are good, but small and overpriced -- stick with the bagels and cream cheese here.

My husband had grilled chicken supreme on an onion bagel. I had the turkey Cal on wheat bread. Both were to die for! We are here for only two days but will go back tomorrow for breakfast!

A best bagel spot in NYC. The sausage egg and cheese on everything bagel is a great breakfast sandwich. They have multiple choices of cream cheese as well. They are a good choice for lunch as well. It can be really busy depending on the time of day. They also have muffins pastries and black and white cookies as well. Coffee is good also and the service is good and worth the little extra time. It is a regular stop for me and have yet to be disappointed.

Not quite the experience I wass looking for. The bagels are good. But the rest of the experience was mediocre at best. No one in the order line yet it took 10 people behind the counter 15 min to get 2 bagels ready. The girls were just talking and ignoring about 15 customers waiting to pickup orders. There are so many great bagel places in NY. This is not one of them.

One of the best bagel shop in the area... everything they have here is fresh and delicious... service is fast and kind... huge variety of toppings for your bagel and different kind of snacks as well... you can choose from fresh juices, coffees and hot drinks as well... I had a Santa Fe salad and a plain bagel with butter and cream cheese... also I ordered a salmon and cream cheese bagel and a supreme Reuben with rye bread sandwich... it was amazing and very very tasty... cosy and clean little place... service was fast and kind also...
